International Students Dinner The 1st dinner of the season is tomorrow June 5th! So excited to see new faces, learn new names, and hope to see some old! Remember you don't have to be from a different country to join us! Dinner is at 7pm but come meet and greet before, play some basketball or giant Jenga, and bring a dish if you wish! Many thanks in advance to all of the volunteers that bring this together! We love you!
Hi Wonderful People! We are so excited to have our visitors and summer folks back in town! If you hadn't heard; big things are happening at our sweet little chapel. Starting with the International dinners beginning on June 5th at 6:30pm, dinner at 7ish. Feel free to join us or bring a dish or both. There are opportunities to help with transportation and trips well. These are great ways to meet and love on these sweet kids from all over the world. Next up! The Chapel has begun the process of expanding this beautiful little building to accommodate our growing needs. The plans call for a new kitchen, nursery, fellowship hall, and classrooms! We are giddy with anticipation to say the least! God is Good friends! Know that and never doubt it! If you'd like to send a financial gift you can go to www.corollachapel.com and click on donate or send to 1136 Corolla Village Rd, Corolla, NC 27927 and designate to the Chapel Building Fund. Can't wait to see you! Have a blessed day!

Great Weekend! Candy and I went to one in November, well worth the investment of time and money into your marriage.
I love our little Chapel and everybody in it. The description is “Blessed beyond measure”. I stopped by tonight to pick up some copier paper so I could do some writing at home but could not resists taking pictures of the sanctuary decorated for Christmas and loaded with the gifts to go out to children and seniors who live on the Currituck County mainland. Bonnie McCarthy you are amazing and so is Ed. The work you two do as well as many others is immeasurable. Ten bags of groceries for each family, very nice gifts for over thirty five children. Being able to work with other community organizations as well as Social Services is such an amazing gift to the community. The love of Christ is evident in all that each of you do and all this without the Pastor being there. Maybe a lesson could be found in that. Thank you, thank you, thank you and love to you all, Pastor Jim and Candy
I failed to mention one very important thing. There was a Community Golf Outing held at the Currituck Club in September to benefit Corolla Chapel. Jack Burke was the driving force behind this fun and successful event. I had not hit a golf ball in almost eight years and my team extended me a lot of grace and a couple of “Mulligans”. Over all $12,500 was raised for the Chapel through the gifts and sponsorships of local business and organizations. Due to the increased utilization of the Chapel and its facilities the Board is exploring the building of a new fellowship hall and most importantly a large more functional kitchen. The old kitchen cannot be remodeled due to building restrictions so we will have to look at a new combination fellowship hall and kitchen. The old fellowship hall and kitchen will be remodeled to make classrooms and a nursery. At least those are our thoughts for now. Some drawings have been made and we will work through the approval process with the members. Once approved we will begin a building program to raise the funds so we can complete the project and remain debt free. If you would like to give towards this before the tax laws change we will be happy to accept any donations and add to our existing building fund. That was just a last minute thought. Exciting times in Corolla Chapel. Pastor Jim
It has been a while sense posting any updates. I know social media is the way people communicate and even though I do get some of my information this way I keep the things I post to a minimum. Well sometimes you just need to let folks know what is happening, particularly with the Chapel. Our summer outreach to the international student workers was a great success. We averaged around 70 students per week and a couple of times had over 100 join in the dinner. The new 15 passenger Chapel van was well utilized with two or three trips a week to points of interest to the students. The van has also been used to take the men of the Chapel to the OBX Christian Men’s Fellowship gatherings, we have had trips to musical concerts and dinner. We have also assisted some community groups with trips and transportation to important events. Waters Edge School the small charter school in the village continues to use our fellowship hall for some class room space and it is nice to hear the children and laughter throughout the day. We are in full swing for the Christmas food drive and children’s gift giving program to help Social Service on the mainland. This is done with the help of other civic and community groups in Corolla. We will have a Christmas Eve Service, 7 pm and we hope to have our “choir” ready to go. I am attaching a few pictures from the past few months. God bless you all, “not so tiny” Pastor Jim
Good morning all, Hope everyone is settled into a safe place. Candy and I are staying in Corolla. I am currently at the Chapel and all is well at this time. We plan to have services Sunday at the regular time, 10 am, for those who will feel comfortable coming out. Our prayers are with each of you. See you soon. Pastor Jim and Candy
THANK YOU—THANK YOU—THANK YOU!! We have finished our 12th week of the International Student Dinners. We have served over 900 meals, provided over 110 bicycles, and repairs for many more. The Chapel provided a number of trips to Walmart and places of interest to the students. They have been to the Aquarium, Jennet’s Pier, the Wright Brothers Monument and JDAY. Over a dozen students have requested and received Bibles, and our local Gideon has provided information on an “APP” that provides the Bible in over 1000 languages. This could not be done without our very faithful volunteers and your financial support. BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP! Our final meal of the season will be August 29th and like last year we want to make this a traditional Thanksgiving Day meal. We would like for individuals and families to adopt a table and decorate it in their traditional Thanksgiving Day fashion. This was a special time for the students last year. Turkey and all the trimmings were served. The story behind the meal was shared, which allowed for the witness of our Christian faith and much more. If possible please plan to be a part of this special night. We will need Thanksgiving dishes and deserts, extra helpers and table sponsors. Turkey will be provided. Many students have never seen such a bird carved and served Students will be leaving in the next few weeks. So take this opportunity to thank the students for the services they provided and most importantly to be a witness of Christ’s love. Please contact Pastor Jim, Candy or one of our regular volunteers if you would like to take part in this meal. Thanks again. Pastor Jim
A Beautify morning at the Chapel!
We have some very special neighbors in Corolla. Duck Donuts in Corolla is supporting the Chapel's International Student outreach ministry with a special fund raiser. I have attached their flier so take a look and go purchase a special 'Cinnamon Bun" donuts. I guess you can't eat just one because the singular form donut came up as a misspelled word. Have a Jesus and a donuts filled day! Blessings Pastor Jim
It has been a very busy week. On Monday picked up 32 bikes for the Kill Devil Hills Police Department that had been picked up or impounded for over a year. What a gift. Corolla Fire Department let me borrow a trailer so I could pick them all up at one time. Most were in need of some attention and care but they were fixed up and believe it on not we’re distributed to the students who started arriving in mass this week. In all over 40 bikes were provided to the international students who live more than a mile or two from their place of employment this week alone. Sid had fixed and delivered some bikes the week before. We provided bikes for students working in Corolla all the way down to Duck. When you see a bike with bright green paint on the front forks it is one of ours. The OBX Hospital made headlight available and CFR Cares (Corolla Fire and Rescue) made red tail lights available most of which were fixed to the bikes before giving them out. If there is a bike shop out there that would like to trade some cruiser bikes for BMX Bikes let me know I have about 5. Next week we will begin to pull some bikes we have had stored in our shed and get them ready to give out at our first weekly dinner that starts June 6th. All in all we will have made available about 80 bikes this year by the second week of June. Thank you for everyone’s support, this could not be done without you. Blessings Pastor Jim
Another exciting opportunity to grow together as the "Body of Christ" and in our own walk with Him. This is a special event for the ladies, designed to draw each one who participates into a closer and yes more "intimate" relationship and understanding of our Lord Jesus' heart for you. The day is April 14th. See the attach flyer for additional information.
I want to invite everyone out to the Chapel this Friday evening at 7 pm. Gail Kunkel will be blessing us with beautiful music from the piano as we take time to reflect on the goodness of our Lord and His gift to us, the atoning work of Jesus on the Cross. Jesus died that we might be forgiven, He rose from the dead that we might have life. This will be a time of quiet reflection. The "Lord's Supper", the Communion elements will placed on the altar for any who would like to come forward and partake and share the intimate moment, remembering what all that the Cross means for those who call Jesus, "Lord and Savior." Blessings Pastor Jim
Good morning everyone! Candy and I, along with Sherry and Gail got back home around 6 pm yesterday after an 11.5 hour flight and a six hour time changed. Needless to say the Southern's (slowly) unpacked, showered and went to bed. Up early today to get ready for our Palm Sunday Celebration. I will be posting some more pictures and stories as soon as I can get an ornery camera to release its treasures to my computer for download and editing. If asked for a quick take-a-way from our trip my response is "I am glad I serve a 'Living Savior', who's presences resides in me and in you as we believe in Him." More to follow. Thank you to everyone who helped make this trip possible! Love Pastor Jim and Candy.
